Participants FAQ

What is your platform?

We see ourselves as an intermediary that brings young talented people together with companies or other people who have Co-Creation Challenges for which they need new and creative ideas. The advantage of our platform is that you can choose a Co-Creation Challenge and then form a team online with people you don’t know to brainstorm ideas with. This allows us to promote cross-disciplinary exchange and thus idea creation and innovation. The Co-Creation Challenges come directly from real-life situations and are real Co-Creation Challenges that companies face. Through the format of a Co-Creation Challenge, a multitude of new ideas are generated in a very short time, you get to know a great team and possibly new starting points or contacts arise for your further career. And on top of that, there is the possibility of winning prizes or receiving a certificate that will definitely give you a great story in your next job interview.

Is the platform free of charge to use?

The use of our platform is free of charge for users. Better still, you will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes and we’ll even award you with a certificate for your efforts.’

What do I have to consider when participating?

We offer you the opportunity to become creative together with others in the team and at the same time to make an impact with your ideas. Beyond that, however, it is not necessary that you already have certain experience or skills. However, it is necessary that you are at least 18 years old to be able to use our platform and win prizes. The common principles of teamwork is in the foreground and should offer you the possibility to develop your creativity.

What do I have to do if I want to participate?

If you are at least 18 years old, you can easily create a profile at www.jointgenerations.com, where you can provide us with some data about yourself and your personality. The joint work takes place exclusively online with a team of other people. Therefore, you also need a laptop or smartphone, a stable Internet connection, and a microphone and, ideally, a camera for good collaboration. Afterwards, the app is completely at your disposal and you can click through the various tasks and familiarize yourself with them. If you see something exciting, then you will find the number of free places and the dates that are available on the description page. By clicking on the “Join” button you can then start and you will be invited to a video call along with your team.

Are there fixed dates for Co-Creation Challenges?

Yes, there are. On the description page of each Co-Creation Challenge, you will find the fixed dates that are available for selection. For each Co-Creation Challenge, these can be different times and days, so that everyone can find something suitable for them. You can also find more information in our newsletter or on our LinkedIn page.

How much time do I have to plan?

Once you’ve chosen a date for one of our Co-Creation Challenges, you should plan around two hours for your participation. However, it is also possible that you will come up with a great idea much faster as a team. In that case, you will have the opportunity to submit your results sooner and finish the Co-Creation Challenge. However, once you have finished the Co-Creation Challenge, you will no longer be able to make any changes to the idea that you submitted.

How do I benefit from participating?

You can benefit in two ways from participating. Firstly, through the different tasks you can develop yourself and learn to creatively deal with new Co-Creation Challenges as part of a team. If the idea you come up with impresses the creator of the Co-Creation Challenge, you can draw attention to yourself and from that new career opportunities may arise. In addition, there is also the concrete possibility of winning prizes. Depending on the complexity of the task, the creator decides on the design of the prizes. At each Co-Creation Challenge, different teams can work on the same task and submit their ideas. A winning team is then selected from all the ideas and receives a certificate and the prize. The prize will be divided equally among all team members.

Who chooses the winning team?

The decision lies with the person who created the Co-Creation Challenge. Only after all dates for a respective Co-Creation Challenge have been completed will the organizer receive the results, to ensure fairness between the competing teams. Therefore, the selection will be made only after the last date has been completed. Since it is not us, but the respective organizers who have their criteria and expectations for the completion of the task, we have no influence on which team wins. Tip: In order to meet the expectations of the task organizer, experience has shown that it makes sense to be very oriented towards the task. But of course, don’t let yourself be too creatively constrained; unconventional ideas in particular can be very valuable!

Is there anything I need to consider for tax purposes when making a profit?

Our Co-Creation Challenges offer you the chance to win great prizes so that you and your team are rewarded for your effort and ideas. However, if you are selected as the winning team by a task creator and receive prizes in the process, the responsibility of correct taxation is entirely your own. In most cases, however, this will not be a problem. If you are unsure, the best thing to do is consult a tax advisor.

Who has the rights to the created ideas?

Basically, as a team, you retain the right to your idea, and in fact, you may have created an idea that is very valuable to the company in question. Therefore, the creator of the Co-Creation Challenge may approach you to possibly develop the idea further together with you or to buy the rights in the form of an extended right of use. Normally, our platform is designed in such a way that your ideas are passed on to the respective creator after the Co-Creation Challenge has been completed. The creator then receives a so-called simple right to use your idea. Depending on how convincing your idea is, one of the scenarios mentioned above can occur afterwards.

May I participate in a Co-Creation Challenge multiple times on different dates?

In theory, this is possible. However, it is important that when you work in a new team, you do not pass on or develop the idea from your previous team. This is because you are not the only one who has the right to use it, so this would not be fair on your other team members. However, if you have new ideas and approaches in the meantime, a second appointment gives you the chance to bring those ideas into a new team and achieve even more great results. We want to promote innovation together and unite companies with young people!

How does a Co-Creation Challenge work exactly?

Once you have registered on our platform, you can take a closer look at the various Co-Creation Challenges available. On the description page you will find more information about the problem and the dates on which the Co-Creation Challenge is offered. You can choose one of the free dates and then simply click on the button to take part in the Co-Creation Challenge. As soon as the Co-Creation Challenge starts, you will first be taken to a waiting room until all participants have arrived. Then you will all be brought as a team into a video call and receive the respective Co-Creation Challenge in the form of a detailed task. The teams consist of 3-4 people and you have two hours together to brainstorm and form your ideas. At the end of the two hours, your results will be saved and forwarded to the Co-Creation Challenge creator when all deadlines have been met. If you have already finished, you can finish the Co-Creation Challenge earlier, but you will not be able to make any more changes to your idea. The creator will then select a winning team – if you have won, you will be contacted by us. The prize will be divided equally among your team and you will all receive a certificate.

Who receives our ideas after the Co-Creation Challenge?

As soon as the Co-Creation Challenge has been completed, i.e. all the events that were up for selection have been carried out, the ideas are then handed over to the creator of the respective Co-Creation Challenge. The creator then selects a winning team on the basis of his or her own criteria. The chosen winning team will be contacted by us and will receive a certificate as well as the advertised prize of the respective Co-Creation Challenge. Your ideas will be passed on, but you still retain your rights to the idea. The creator gets a simple right of use. You can find out more about this under “Who has the rights to the ideas created?”.

Company FAQ

What is your platform?

We see ourselves as an intermediary that brings young talented people together with companies or other people who have Co-Creation Challenges for which they need new and creative ideas. With our offer we address all age groups. The advantage of our platform is that interested participants in a Co-Creation Challenge are brought together in teams across disciplines to solve the Co-Creation Challenges posed and to develop new ideas. The participants are each given two hours to work on a specific task or problem and to develop new ideas and approaches for solving it. As a result, many new ideas are generated in a short period of time, which can be used as an external innovation impulse for a company. In addition, the format of a Co-Creation Challenge offers your company the opportunity to present itself to the outside world with exciting tasks and topics with the young generation. Working intensively with a Co-Creation Challenge set by them increases young people’s identification with your company and provides excellent starting points for identifying new and interesting applicants.

What can be understood by a Co-Creation Challenge?

This exemplary formulation gives a first impression of what Co-Creation Challenges can look like. On our platform, we understand a Co-Creation Challenge to be the Co-Creation Challenge of a company, for which new and creative ideas for solutions are developed within two hours by teams of 3-4 young people. Thus, a Co-Creation Challenge is a balance of an open task, which is formulated in such a way that it offers creative freedom and at the same time provides a direction that is relevant for you as a company. The goal is to allow a wide variety of new ideas to emerge and not to have a fixed solution. This can provide you with new external perspectives that emerge from the collaboration of cross-disciplinary teams and can be incorporated into the internal innovation process.

What kind of topics are suitable for a Co-Creation Challenge?

A variety of topics can be considered for a Co-Creation Challenge, where your company can benefit from external impulses. You are always welcome to contact us with interesting topics or your own detailed idea to publish a Co-Creation Challenge. One focus should be on breaking down the respective Co-Creation Challenge into a task that is both understandable and attractive for our target group. We are also happy to offer our support for this in the form of a joint meeting or workshop.

How is the process of a Co-Creation Challenge structured?

Here, two different areas can be divided. The first is the preparation of the Co-Creation Challenge, which consists, among other things, of you selecting a suitable topic. In close consultation with us, we will then jointly create an online Co-Creation Challenge page where your expectations are communicated. In this way, we provide you with support and at the same time offer you the technical interface to carry out and promote the Co-Creation Challenge. The users of our platform will see the Co-Creation Challenge in our overview after it has been published. We also use our newsletter as well as social media to draw attention to new Co-Creation Challenges. In a predefined period of 1-3 months, various dates will now be made available. On these dates, interested participants have the opportunity to develop new ideas and solutions for their Co-Creation Challenge within two hours in a multidisciplinary team. At the end of the last appointment, we will send you all the results and ideas, from which you can then independently select a winning team. In addition, you will receive the contact details of the participants in the Co-Creation Challenge, as well as the profiles you have previously maintained yourself, with skills and experience entered. This gives you the opportunity, for example, to get in touch with the participants to have ideas developed further and to open up your innovation process. It also allows you to identify young exciting applicants and target them if they are interested.

Do I have the opportunity to have a say in the winning team?

Yes, the selection of a winning team is your responsibility as the Co-Creation Challenge creator. After all the deadlines have been met, you will receive all of the ideas developed in the Co-Creation Challenge. You can then freely select a winning team from the participants, based on your own requirements and expectations. This team will receive the previously defined prize as well as a certificate for their participation. After reviewing all of the ideas, you just need to inform us of your decision and we then take care of the communication with the participants. After that we will send you the bundled contacts and bank data of the participants of the chosen winning team. If nothing else has been agreed, you can then easily pay out a potential cash prize by bank transfer or initiate the dispatch of non-cash prizes. Do I receive the contact details of the participants?

Yes. All participants agree to share their contact information with you. This provides opportunities for participants to meet new contacts with companies that are potentially exciting for them and it increases the incentive to develop creative ideas. For you as a company, it offers the opportunity to contact participants of interest directly. In order to enable a match with the competence profiles you are looking for, we will also provide you with the participants’ details regarding their skills and experience. You can then easily initiate contact, e.g. by e-mail.

Who holds the rights to the ideas created?

In principle, the participants of the Co-Creation Challenge remain the owners of the ideas developed. However, as the Co-Creation Challenge creator, you receive a simple right of use to all ideas developed in the Co-Creation Challenge. This right of use allows you to use or further develop the ideas for solving your Co-Creation Challenge. You also have the option of either purchasing an extended right of use from the creators or initiating collaborations with participants to further develop an idea. We will send you the contact details of all participants in addition to the ideas after completion of the Co-Creation Challenge.

What if none of the ideas appeal to us?

With a variety of teams working on your Co-Creation Challenge, we ensure that diverse ideas are created. In addition, we offer multidisciplinary teams of young and dedicated people, thus providing an external perspective and view from a young generation on your problem. Despite this, of course, we cannot guarantee that the ideas submitted will fully meet your expectations. In this case, there is the possibility to contact the teams in order to further develop interesting approaches. In addition, you can use the impetus internally to follow up on the work on the Co-Creation Challenge. Possibly, a follow-up Co-Creation Challenge could also come into question. With this, we are also happy to assist and support you. However, despite this, a winning team should still be selected and rewarded for their time and commitment. And in this context you can use this procedure for your own employer branding or to contact interesting participants directly, e.g. to inform them about open positions.

What are the requirements for setting a Co-Creation Challenge?

In addition to a suitable and attractive topic (see “Which topics are suitable for a Co-Creation Challenge?”), each Co-Creation Challenge also includes a prize for the winning team. This can be a cash or non-cash prize and is chosen by them depending on the context of the chosen Co-Creation Challenge. Cash prizes are the easiest and most attractive, as they can be easily paid out once a winning team has been selected. However, we do offer them some creative leeway here to target our users.

In addition, we require basic information about your Co-Creation Challenge, such as the desired duration and a concrete task which the respective participants will receive at the beginning of the Co-Creation Challenge. We will be happy to assist you with this as your point of contact.

Are there costs associated with using the platform?

On the one hand, we charge a fee for posting the Co-Creation Challenge on our platform and for our consulting services in this context. In return, you get the opportunity to use our infrastructure and we promote your Co-Creation Challenge through our marketing channels. In addition to this fee, there is also a requirement to offer a prize for your Co-Creation Challenge. This can be in the form of a cash or non-cash prize and can be defined by them depending on the context of the Co-Creation Challenge itself. In addition to the other benefits for our users, a prize provides yet another incentive to engage with your Co-Creation Challenge and encourages a competitive nature between teams.

May we include the Co-Creation Co-Creation Challenge in our Marketing?

Absolutely. Our goal is to promote cross-generational work between companies and students, thus increasing the innovation potential of your company. In addition, we also offer the opportunity to engage in employer branding and to present yourself as an open and interesting employer with exciting topics. In our experience, it is therefore very beneficial to spread the word about the Co-Creation Challenge on your own channels and publish content customized to the target group.
